Topic

For my lesson plan I wanted it to be centered around the conquest of the Americas (1492-1600). I want my students to conduct research on a certain explorer during that time period and create a video biography on their person. Included in the video is a narration of the explorers life, accomplishments, and the importance of their conquest. I feel this lesson incorporates both social studies and technology and meets the educational standards of the DOE. Also it will be a fun way to learn some history.

Blog 4

The website I came across, Junior General Home Page is a great resource for history teachers to get ideas of interesting history lessons to use in their own classrooms. The resources provided are articles of historical battles that took place from the late antiquities to the recent 19thcentury. The information that is provided seems to be adequate, based on the cited sources the material were taken from secondary sources. The information were taken from books, magazines, and other articles. As a future educator I found this website to be very beneficial tool to use when looking for inspiration to what types of lessons I will present in my own classroom.

Blog Comments

I visited 3 blogs: NFL Blog-Fanhouse, Lil Wayne's (Rapper) Blog, and New York Times Blog. On the NFL Blog- Fanhouse, the comments gave sports fans a chance to voice their opinions on their most beloved and hated football teams. It was entertaining to read. The rapper Lil Wayne's Blog were full comments from girls that post how "hot" and "sexy" he was. It was kind of pathetic. I guess that is the price you pay for being famous. For me i was more interested in listening to his latest mix-tape singles. Lastly, the New York Times Blogs provided many types of blogs from the latest politic issues, to the latest fashion trends, and shows on Broadway. The particular comments I focused on was on the Broadway show of Cyrno De Bergerac. The comments were critiques of the show, they were both positive and negative. In my opinion, I think people leave comments on blogs to state their opinions and get their voice heard. I also think it is a great way to socialize with people. Commenting is a great feature on blogs.

High School History Teacher Blog

I found it hard to find a particular blog about a history teacher blogging about history. But what I came across to me was far more interesting. I found blogs posted up by a teacher in New England. She talks about the challenges that come with being a teacher. Then she ultimately talks about how she got terminated from the high school she was teaching at. She talked about how she thought she was doing an awesome job for the past three years she was teaching at that particular school. The termination was a surprise to her. Besides talking about her teaching experiences, she talked a lot about her personal life like battling the flu bug, vacationing, and formal evaluations.
Overall I thought the blog was very personable. From a future educators stand point reading her blog about being a teacher made this real for me. As an educator you always have to be on your toes and always be a the top you your game, that can be the difference. I really enjoyed M-Dawgs blog.
